A decision this week by London-based Weatherly Mining Namibia to lay off workers at two Namibian mines and focus resources on improving production at another was done in bad faith.
This was said by Namibian National Labour Organisation (NANLO) President Evilastus Kaaronda yesterday when he spoke to about 100 of the 220 workers who received retrenchment notices on Monday.
The union said it would fight the company’s decision to make the workers redundant. Kaaronda suggested that the company’s approach could be challenged in terms of the labour law.
