Work is continuing on the third phase of the upgrading of the Ondangwa airport in northern Namibia.
The second phase – an expansion of the runway – was completed last month and operations at the airport resumed at the beginning of this month after having been closed for three weeks.
The runway width was increased from 30 to 45 metres and lengthened to 1.6 kilometres to accommodate larger aircraft.
The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) strategic executive Toska Sem took the media on a tour of the new runway this week.
