Welwitschia-inspired parliament mooted

Namibia’s new, state-of-the-art parliament building will be in the shape of the national plant, the Welwitschia mirabilis.
The National Assembly and National Council will form the plant’s iconic leaves, joined together by a central ‘trunk’ that will be used for joint events.
This was revealed by National Assembly Speaker Peter Katjavivi in an interview with Namibian Sun on the construction of the N$700 million building which is set to start this year.
