Floodlights for NFA Technical Centre SPORT REPORTER
The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Technical Centre has received floodlights from FIFA to help develop Namibian football.
The installation of the floodlights is expected to be completed later this month.
The Technical Centre was built in 2010. The lights will now allow events to take place at night.
NFA secretary-general Barry Rukoro expressed excitement about the new development.
“The floodlights at the centre will definitely increase productivity and efficiency.
“It will also help reduce the pressure placed on national teams,” Rukoro said.
“The objective of any FIFA development activity is ultimately to improve the football experience of those who wish to play the game.
“We try to seize the daylight in terms of training and all activities taking place at the centre.
“This places great pressure on the teams. Currently, the Brave Warriors are unable to use the centre on Wednesdays for training because the Girls’ Centre is using it for the NFA Galz and Goals League. The team is forced to go look for a training facility elsewhere.”
Rukoro further commended FIFA for providing the NFA with the funds to commission various programmes for the good of the game.
“Without their involvement and generosity, we would not be able to aim high and reach our potential.
“We truly appreciate the continuous support from FIFA. Their contributions have helped us to dramatically improve the game.”
