Convicted fraudster Esmeralda Majiedt wept like a baby in the High Court yesterday, after being sentenced to 25 years in prison, of which eight have been suspended – giving her an effective 17-year jail stay.
Judge Christie sentenced Majiedt in connection with 369 counts of fraud involving more than N$56 million, after she had earlier admitted guilt.
Eight years of her 25-year sentence were suspended, on condition that she is not convicted of fraud or theft during the period of suspension.
