Over 400 000 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots between 07:00 and 21:00 in today’s regional and local authority elections, but voter apathy fears remain, sparking the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) to urge all those eligible to make their way to the polls.
Voter turnout for regional council and local authority elections have over the years shown a dramatic plunge, with 1992’s average 81% turnout still the highest to date.
According to the ECN, a total of 418 544 registered voters are expected to make their way to the polls today.
