Livestock industry braced for tough times

South Africa has informed the World Trade Organisation (WTO) that it plans to implement its revised requirements for the import of Namibian livestock by May next year.
The strict new requirements had initially been imposed last year, leading to devastating consequences for Namibia’s meat industry, given its overreliance on traditional markets like South Africa.
