Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN) says schools using local languages as a medium of instruction do not have textbooks to date.
The use of local languages as a medium of instruction for pre-primary to grade three follows the introduction of the revised curriculum for primary and secondary education in the country. TUN President Mahongora Kavihuha said the textbooks were supposed to have arrived at schools at the beginning of the year.
Kavihuha explained that the delay was caused by the recall of the textbooks, due to mistranslations and other challenges.
