The Brave Warriors of Namibia are preparing to go head-to-head against Senegal, one of the powerhouses of African football, in a first-leg qualifier match tomorrow.
Namibia has assembled the best crop of players to face Senegal in Group H, but the Teranga Lions are the firm favourites and will field a strong squad.
The head coach of the Warriors, Bobby Samaria, believes they have what it takes to send the Lions home with their tails between their legs, stating that mountains are there to be climbed and conquered.
He pins his hopes on his team’s fighting spirit, saying that their drive and hunger to win will upset the established order.
“Since all the professionals joined the team on Monday, we have been stepping up a gear in our preparations and the mental aspect of the players and the technical team is vital as we go to Senegal,” he added.
As it stands, Senegal tops the group with six points, followed in second place by Namibia with four, Congo has one point, and at the bottom is Togo with no points.
Namibia’s record shows that they drew one-all against Congo at Orlando Stadium in South Africa before beating Togo 1-0 away from home in September.
Senegal, on the other hand, beat Togo 2-0 and Congo 3-1 in September.
After facing Senegal, the Warriors will visit Congo and then host them in South Africa as the group action concludes around 13 to 16 November.
