WINDHOEK

Netball Namibia will host two international events in Windhoek before the end of the year, they confirmed yesterday.

The body, which just last weekend concluded the MTC Namibia Netball Premier League, will host the Pent Series from 31 October to 5 November, as well as the Africa Netball Championship from 9 to 16 November.

Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya and Zambia are confirmed for the Pent Series. The same countries will also feature in the championship, with some additions.

The competitions were cancelled last year due to Covid-19. However, they will be held in order to prepare and boost the national netball squad.

The following players have been called up for training:

Shooters: Jatjinda Tjihero (Mighty Gunners), Louise Kausehue (Namibia Correctional Service (NSC) Netball Club), Jessica Kuzatjike (Afro Cats Sports Club), Anna Kasper (Navy Netball Club), Eve Kamutushi (Tigers), Jessica Moolman (Wanderers Netball Club), Ilyn Pura (NCS), Tusnelde Fillemon (Tigers), Nelandre Mostert (invitee).

Midcourt: Selma Bitler (Afro Cats), Loide Hanyana (Tigers), Anna Shipanga (Tigers), Maria Mulunga (Tigers), Imbileni Frans (Wanderers), Pupe Kandovazu (NCS), Uahengisa Tjozongoro (Mighty Gunners), Zante Farmer (Wanderers), Victoria Hasheela (Rebels Netball Club).

Defence

Monica Gomases (UJ), Juzelri Garbers (Tuks), Cornelia Mupenda (UJ), Mwale Mulenamaswe (Tigers) Tjeripo Kambirongo (NCS), Monique Basson (United 12), Sunshine Murangi (Grootfontein Netball Club), Geltrud Shiputa (Dollar Stars), Maria Blessing (Dollar Stars).
