WINDHOEK

Emma Naris headed home a late winner for Namibia in a hard-fought win against Angola in the second international friendly at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The second match had a lot to offer, with Namibia looking to make it two wins from two and Angola aiming to redeem themselves from the 4-0 routing from the first match played on Wednesday.

Angola, set on finishing their tour of Namibia on a high, matched the Brave Gladiators throughout the first half. Zenatha Coleman, Thomalina Adams and substitute Millicent Hikuam tried their best to get through, but the Angolans were steadfast in their defence this time around.

Hikuam came on for Meltret Ujamba on after the latter was forced off with an injury on 10 minutes.

It was goalless at the break.

Naris breaks deadlock

The physical play from Angola continued in the second half with Coleman going down time and again as the visitors looked to contain her.

But on 72 minutes, Coleman finally got through as she found herself one on one with Domingos Kinanga and picked her spot, only for the latter to palm it away for a corner kick.

Emma Naris finally broke the deadlock 76 minutes with a fine placed header meeting a floated corner kick taken by captain Coleman. And it proved to be the difference on the day.
