Namibia Football Association president Ranga Haikali has vowed that the association will discipline its first vice-president, Isack Fredericks, at an executive meeting scheduled for this weekend.

Namibian Sun also understands that the exco will postpone the football season to September.

Sources close to Fredericks suggested that he is not afraid of his senior’s remarks.

Haikali, who has often accused Fredericks of siding with the Progressive Forces, spoke of a possible expulsion or vote of no confidence in Fredericks.

“The NFA executive committee is going to deal with him this weekend and we could also possibly remove him from the position,” Haikali said.

The president’s remarks come in the wake of a letter Fredericks wrote to Caf’s secretary-general Véron Mosemba-Omba ciriticising Haikali’s conduct.

“Myself as first vice-president and some other executive members got wind that the members are dissatisfied with the conduct and behaviour of the president since we were elected.

“I am surprised to read in an interview which the president gave to this newspaper where the president where he clearly embarrasses the SG, projecting him as corrupt.

“The president further said that the SG had awarded a tender which is false and added that progressive forces, who are all the chairpersons and executive committee members who worked for regime change under Barry Rukoro, Frans Mbidi and even Patrick Kauta,” the letter from Fredericks reads.

Haikali has also written his own letter to the Caf secretary-general in which he accused Fredericks of sabotage.

Haikali also informed Caf that he did not support the date set for the start of the Namibian football season.

“The first vice-president is on record to insist that I appoint him as acting president in my stead even when I am officially on duty.

“I have proof of postings on social media by the so-called progressive forces and very same proposals repeated word by word by the first vice-president.

“I am further not aware of any exco decision to kick off the league on 17 April 2021 till July 2021,” Haikali’s letter reads.

Samaria’s future

The meeting will further discuss the future of the Brave Warriors technical staff.

Sources claim that the NFA may not renew some of the contracts, including that of the head coach, when they lapse on 31 March because of the nation’s failure to qualify for 2021 Afcon.

NFA secretary-general Franco Cosmos rejected the allegation, stating that no decision has been made yet.

“There is no truth in that because only the exco will have the final say and there has been no communication which suggests that the contracts will not be renewed.

“These things will be up for discussion at the congress and only after that will a decision be made,” Cosmos said.
