After two people were killed in elephant attacks in northern Namibia at the weekend, the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Pohamba Shifeta, appealed to people to be vigilant, cautious and refrain from provoking animals.
The two killed by elephants were a 14-year-old girl from Rundu and a 52-year-old Angolan in the Zambezi Region.
According to the police, 14-year-old Nangura Putji was with her three sisters as the elephant was passing their homestead at Mupapama village near Rundu on Friday afternoon.
