Namibia has experienced one of its worst harvests in 80 years as the country is currently in the grip of one of the worst droughts in decades.
On top of that, Namibia’s agricultural sector, which is one of the most important contributors to the economy and employs about 70% of the population directly and indirectly, has shrunk by 12% since the drought of 2013.
This was announced yesterday as the first Africa Drought Conference started in Windhoek under the theme ‘Enhancing Resilience to Drought Events on the African Continent’.
