A special City of Windhoek Management Committee meeting is scheduled for today while a special council session will be held on Wednesday to make a decision about the vacant chief executive officer position.
This follows an instruction from Urban and Rural Development Minister Sophia Shaningwa to the council to expedite the recruitment of a new CEO
The post was left vacant when former CEO Niilo Taapopi’s contract expired on December 16, 2014.
The strategic executive for electricity, Edward Kawesha, has been acting as CEO since then.
