Tragedy struck on Saturday when a Toyota bakkie with 13 passengers capsized and was swept away while attempting to cross a river.
The incident, which happened at Okangwati in the Kunene Region, saw eight people drown while six escaped. The eight bodies were recovered yesterday.
Among those who drowned, there were five adults and three minors including a 9-month-old baby.
Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi yesterday warned people to be careful when crossing rivers. She also warned parents to keep an eye out for children swimming in ponds.
