Inequality tears us apart

Revered South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu once said: “Watch it. You can kiss reconciliation and forgiveness goodbye, unless the gap between the rich and the poor - the haves and the have-nots - is narrowed, and narrowed quickly and dramatically”. This is not only Tutu’s view, it is a sentiment shared by our political leaders at international forums when engaging their Western counterparts.
