Estate agencies are kicking up a storm over the draft Deeds Registries Bill, which if enacted by parliament will give homeowners the power to register their own properties at the Deeds Office, without making use of conveyancing attorneys.
They say this will lead to chaos at the Deeds Office, and even longer delays in registering property transactions, as ordinary people struggle to get to grips with the complicated process. It may also open up the process to fraud.
