Fraudster bought friends with stolen N$56m

Self-confessed fraudster Esmerelda Majiedt has testified that she “bought friends” with the N$56.5 million she stole from cement company AfriSam Namibia.
A tearful Majiedt told High Court Judge Christie Liebenberg yesterday that there was nothing left of the money and she is not in a position to pay back even one cent.
She said she extended a helping hand to those who were in need, but all those people had since disappeared.
