Finance Minister Calle Schlettwein has commended Namibians for their lively debate about the proposed Solidarity Wealth Tax, while strongly hinting the tax will be implemented, despite growing opposition.
Schlettwein addressed the media this past Friday about the public reaction to the proposed tax, which has included lively debates on social media and a petition sent to his office signed by 2 500 individuals, who oppose the move.
“Although this represents a relatively small 0.59% of individual taxpayers, the petition raises several valid concerns,” Schlettwein said.
