The City of Windhoek says it is monitoring the ongoing depletion of Windhoek’s water resources, now considered to be at a critical stage, before declaring a water crisis, probably by early next year.
Years of below-average rainfall have resulted in very low levels of the three main storage dams supplying central Namibia - the Swakoppoort, Von Bach and Omatako dams.
