Poverty fight gets into high gear

President Hage Geingob, who cancelled a trip to Turkey to attend a two-day Poverty Eradication and Wealth Redistribution Conference in Windhoek yesterday, said the global deadline of 2030 is too far in the future.
In an effort to achieve this ambitious goal a budget of N$50 million has been set aside for this year alone.
Efforts to eradicate poverty will include food banks that will be established with technical support from Cuban experts.
