State House Press Secretary Albertus Aochamub explained that President Hage Geingob’s pledge of 20% of his salary for scholarships to the poor was not part of taxpayers’ money.
This money, he said, is proceeds from the Head of State’s entitlements as a salaried person with a day job. He added that the gesture is a clarion call to all privileged Namibians to care for those who are less fortunate as well.
Aochamub said this underlines Geingob’s principle and belief that all citizens and entities must join the fight to eradicate poverty.
