Nampol officers at the holding cells of the Windhoek Central Police Station have been implicated in the theft of money from an inmate and aiding the escape of a suspect.
In two days, two police officials have appeared for a charge of theft by pretence or alternatively, theft and the aiding of a suspect who escaped from lawful custody.
According to the charges, Richard Mukwenda, rank unknown, allegedly aided a trial-awaiting suspect, Veino Popyeni Iikali to escape from the holding cells in the capital last Sunday.
