A cold front that is forecast for this week will break the intense heat wave that Namibians have been experiencing.
Some parts of the country received a few drops of rain in the past week, but dam levels remain critically low and in the central area levels have dropped to below 20%.
The Omatako Dam is empty, the Swakoppoort Dam is at 23.4% and the Von Bach Dam is at 30.5% of its capacity. Last month the total level of central dams stood at 38.9%.
The total for the dams in the South currently stands at 52.5% in comparison to last year when it was 60%.
