The Minister of Safety and Security, Charles Namoloh, has received a petition for pardon from a convict serving 35 years for armed robbery.
The petition was sent to the minister after the High Court had ordered the Commissioner-General of Correctional Services to forward it to the office of the President.
Sandile Mabena Apani has been in prison since March 2006, serving a 35-year sentence for armed robbery involving N$5.3 million.
He was one of six accused convicted for a cash-in-transit robbery on the road between Windhoek and Brakwater.
