A number of residents in the Groot Aub settlement outside Windhoek have been without water or any sanitation services for over three years now, and are also living in fear when darkness falls.
Hermanus !Gaweb, who has been staying in the California location for the last nine years, was forced to build a bucket toilet for his family, but said he is scared his children may fall into it while playing.
He also complained that the location has no electricity - a situation which puts people’s lives in danger.
