Valentine'sValentine's Here's how some Namibian entertainers feel about Valentine's Day and how they will spend it this year.

RM

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: Love, honesty, kindness and respect.

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your Valentine?

A: Beyonce Knowles Carter

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect Valentine's date?

A: I would one day want to have a candlelit dinner on a yacht in Bora Bora. I would of course want to wear a custom made Ralph & Russo Ready-to-Wear look.

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: I do not have a valentine at all.

Doris

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: First thing that pops up are those iconic red hearts hanging all over town and everywhere you look. But most importantly I think about love.

Q: What is your favourite Valentine's Day memory?

A: This has to be in 2011 when I was still at school. I had this huge crush on someone for about three years in secret, or at least that's what I thought. It turns out he felt the same way. He then came to surprise me at school with the help of my friend and a teacher with the best chocolate I ever had, flowers, the classic teddy bear and a card asking me to be his valentine. I honestly felt like he asked me to marry him!!! I was blown away.

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your Valentine?

A: Okay this one I would like to keep a secret. If I have to say it, it would take the mystery out of it. I would like to stay his secret admirer for now. Who knows what will happen! For now I will let the energy flow and hopefully the universe will respond in my favour.

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect Valentine's date?

A: I'm obsessed with black clothing so I'll definitely be wearing a black little number, figure-hugging while paying more attention to that Victoria's Secret. As for the perfect date, it wouldn't really matter what I do. For me, it's all about sharing the special day and special moment with the right person. Because it's more about the feeling and the person I'm with.

Q: The prized possession you value above all others from a significant other?

A: I value things that are very thoughtful and personalised. For example when I started studying medicine someone bought me a stethoscope and it was a very thoughtful and practical gift which I still cherish. So I think that anything with a little bit of thought put into it is a perfect gift for me.

Q: As a public figure, do you feel that people want to be with you because of your reputation or because of your personality?

A: I haven't encountered anyone who wanted to date me because I am a public figure. However, I would most definitely want someone to date me or like me because of my loveable personality.

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: Since this year is the year of being self-ish and showing myself some love, I am glad to say that I am my valentine this year! I already have some plans in place as to how I intend to spend the day, which definitely includes a nice spa day.

Dillish

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: Chocolates.

Q: What is your favourite Valentine's Day memory?

A: It's definitely the year 2015 when I was surprised by riddles and clues to a series of gifts.

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your valentine?

A: Local Stefan Ludik and international Usher.

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect valentine's date?

A: Plan a romantic date at home with my significant other, when he walks into the house, he'll find rose petals all over the floor with some Barry White playing in the background. We shall then indulge in a three-course meal prepared by me and then head over to a nice warm bubble bath, cuddle in front of the telly and call it a night.

Q: What prized possession do you value above all others from a significant other?

A: Honesty.

Q: As a public figure, do you feel that people want to be with you because of your reputation or because of your personality?

A: Yes, it does become tricky but I'm quite sharp and I'm able to pick bad vibes immediately.

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: *giggles*

El-Shaddai

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: The very first thing that pops into my head when I hear Valentine's Day is chocolate! Lots and lots of chocolate!

Q: What is your favourite Valentine's Day memory?

A: About two years ago I was treated to a lovely dinner at Am Weinberg. That was a very special v-day date.

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your valentine?

A: I wouldn't mind if Idris Elba could rock up on my doorstep, flowers and chocolates in hand!

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect valentine's date?

A: I'd love a destination v-day date, somewhere ridiculously romantic like Venice or Paris. This date will start off with a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. Sightseeing and soaking up the city's culture during the day. And a romantic candlelit dinner at a very swanky restaurant with me rocking a sexy Ruberto Scholtz number.

Q: The prized possession you value above all others from a significant other?

A: A beautiful gold necklace my significant other got me for my birthday last year.

Q: As a public figure, do you feel that people want to be with you because of your reputation or because of your personality?

A: I believe that there will always be people who take more than they give and vice versa, irrespective of your social stature.

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: My significant other.

Josy

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: The first thing that comes to my mind is actually three specific things: Sensationalisation of love as an institution, an excuse to not wholeheartedly love and celebrate our significant others on the 364 other days of the year, and too many people walking around looking like red and white colour pencils.

Q: What is your favourite Valentine's Day memory?

A: It was last year. I went to watch movies with two of my friends and none of us wore red and white and none of us spoke about the specific day. It was really just great to have been able to not be alone like previous years. Fun actually. We mostly spoke about action movies and laughed at our native names.

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your valentine?

A: Ricardo Goagoseb or even Mr Sam Shivute. It would make for such a meaningful dinner filled with exchanges of wisdom on not only love, but life and happiness in the greater scheme of things. Also, would be great to spend the day with a man who would not expect any hanky panky in the end. Lol.

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect valentine's date?

A: Whatever is clean in my wardrobe and it would probably be purple.

Q: The prized possession you value above all others from a significant other?

A: I received a silver watch for my birthday last year. I will always treasure it as it is a constant reminder of the precious value of time and how one need to learn to bask in the present as opposed to always fretting about the past or the unknown or unchangeable.

Q: As a public figure, do you feel that people want to be with you because of your reputation or because of your personality?

A: In this day and age, I really don't trust men's intentions that easily. Obviously they are drawn to you or attracted to you because of what they know about you or what you have done, and then they get to know you and all of a sudden you become too much woman, too independent, too outspoken, to determined, too loud, as if your reputation was established by virtue of something else besides those very same qualities. In short, I would have to say yes.

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: My Valentine will be Vin Diesel as I watch him flex on my screen in his latest movie “XXX” that I will be watching that day. If that doesn't count then I guess I have a lover in a man named Jesus.

Big Ben

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: Oh God, here comes one of those days. Can't we just postpone it to 21 March and mix it with Independence Day? GRN is cutting budgets and you are here promoting this.

Q: What is your favourite Valentine's Day memory?

A: You are asking the wrong person. I normally forget my own birthday so how would I remember Valentine's Day? Let's hope this year I will experience something worth my memory banks.

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your valentine?

A: Can I please have Martha Mukaiwa for breakfast at Capello so she can tell me all about her travels, a late lunch with Tjuna Kauapirura at Xwama Restaurant and a late night game of cards and wine with my mother's children at my cabin in the woods?

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect valentine's date?

A: Anyone who talks to me about fashion this 2017 will be force fed 5-kgs of bubblegum, forced to swallow and hopefully die from gum oozing through their nose and all possible openings.

Q: The prized possession you value above all others from a significant other?

A: Viola gave me a ring many years ago. It was not Valentine's Day but I still value and remember that act.

Q: As a public figure, do you feel that people want to be with you because of your reputation or because of your personality?

A: Lol, these women are not always brave enough to say what brought them to you. Besides, I don't think it matters why a person is attracted to me unless their passions are fuelled by illusions, in which case I will show my true colours very fast. Dear readers, when you hear 'true colours' why do you assume it will be a person's bad self?

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: I am accepting applications.

KP Illest

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: I see a lot of happy cashiers, sad bank accounts and lonely people out there. I am nowhere in that equation.

Q: What is your favourite Valentine's Day memory?

A: In 2007 one guy gave a girl a gift basket and she gave it to me and asked me if I'd be her valentine. Now I don't condone taking other men's women but I also don't condone looking a gift horse in the mouth. Long story short, that year I had my first valentine. #BossThings

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your valentine?

A: Maria Nepembe. She's beautiful, clever and shaped like my future wife (winking face).

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect valentine's date?

A: I would wear some shorts and a vest with my Havaianas and do a long road trip with my girl while listening to Fresh FM all day or any other Planet Radio Station and when we finally arrive at our destination then things get really interesting. #TurnTheMusicWayUp

Q: The prized possession you value above all others from a significant other?

A: I never really treasured anything from a valentine of mine but that biltong that girl gave me back in '07 was pretty nice.

Q: As a public figure, do you feel that people want to be with you because of your reputation or because of your personality?

A: I try to keep my reputation as clean as possible but I guess there are those people that just want to be with someone who could possibly land them in the public eye.

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: Well I'll try and find one over the weekend but at the moment I haven't got one but hey that might change up soon.

Luis Munana

Q: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Valentine's Day?

A: Over-commercialised holiday invented by the corporate world to make money.

Q: What is your favourite Valentine's Day memory?

A: I was in Grade 7; I had a huge crush on Janet. I took her out on a date and bought her chocolates and flowers. I will never forget that day!

Q: What celeb would you not mind having as your valentine?

A: Vanessa Mdee, she's just what I like.

Q: What would you do and wear on your perfect valentine's date?

A: Stay in bed all day, eat junk food, cook and watch TV with Teddy Bear (bae).

Q: The prized possession you value above all others from a significant other?

A: It's definitely an intangible one. I'd have to say: Loyalty above everything.

Q: As a public figure, do you feel that people want to be with you because of your reputation or because of your personality?

A: I actually posted a tweet about that. As a public figure the lines get blurred because one doesn't know if someone wants to be with them because of who they are (public image) vs who they really are (personality). It's very tricky!

Q: Who is your valentine?

A: As a public figure; the moment the public knows who you're dating the relationship no longer becomes yours. My valentine goes by the pet name of teddy bear, name starts with a 'D'.
