Of African establishments and political power There have been interesting political developments in Africa. In The Gambia, the 22-year-long reign of Yahya Jammeh was cut short when he lost to Adama Barrow. In early December 2016, President Jammeh had initially accepted results and conceded defeat. He later made a U-turn to reject the same results he had accepted on national television. The Gambian people were long tired of Jammeh The title “Babili Mansa”can be translated as “Conqueror of Rivers”. In Ghana the people voted out President John Dramani Mahama choosing Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president. John Mahama conceded defeat honourably; a good development for Africa. Had Yahya Abdul-Aziz Awal Jemus Junkung Jammeh Naasiru Deen Babili Mansa not made a U-turn, we would be proclaiming a new dawn for Africa''s democracy. The writers of this edition are concerned about Africa. Their love for this continent is demonstrated by their sharp critique of the status quo.
