After the crash of an E-Med Rescue ambulance plane that killed five people near Cape Town on Sunday, the company has made arrangements with Westair Aviation to place a Hawker 400 XP Jet aircraft on standby to support E-Med Rescue’s air ambulance fleet.
According to E-Med Rescue, it will continue using the existing Cessna 425 and King Air 90 for emergency flights. The Hawker Jet will be used in case of long-haul destinations such as South Africa, Botswana and Angola due to its speed and altitude capabilities, which are essential when transporting critical ill patients.
