If not managed well, the bickering - which has been caused mostly by succession battles waged between factions - could stain the peaceful nature the country continues to enjoy.
Many of those outside the Ovaherero community see the fights as an internal matter that has little bearing on the country’s affairs, forgetting that as the second-largest tribe in the country, a peaceful succession procession is paramount to preserving the peace and sanity that exists across the country.
We can therefore not sit back with folded arms and watch our brothers and sisters devour each other.
We must at all times fight the political infiltration of our traditional authorities because politicians have a way of polarising functioning systems in order to garner votes and support at all costs.
A mutually-beneficial solution is the only way out, one compounded by the ideals of compromise and respect. It is a well-known fact that winning at all costs will not bring about a lasting solution, hence there is need to ensure that everyone is heard so that the voice of reason can reign supreme at the end of the day.
Th Ovaherero community has a rich history and plays an important role when it comes to preserving our social and cultural fabric as a society, and the ongoing fights and commotion are in no one’s favour.
