WINDHOEK
Speaking at the Local MaYnia event earlier this week, Taleni Shimhopileni, content executive and director of One Africa TV, said since her start at One Africa TV, it has been and will always be her mission to bring more local content to Namibian viewers.
“Since 2016, we’ve increased our Namibian locally produced shows from 2% to 40%. One Africa TV recently partnered with seven external, independent local producers to be broadcasted in this month of May,” she said.
Shimhopileni added that these are not the only local shows airing on One Africa TV, but are the ones currently playing in the month of May beyond the in-house productions and other external broadcast titles.
“We have been building and continue to build relationships with local content creators and so it is exciting to say that there is more and will be more local content to come on One Africa TV.”
Jam-packed line-up
The seven local titles playing on One Africa in the month of May are: Wonder Women, This is Namibia, NamRequest Show, MTC HopSol Youth Soccer League, MaMaKoBo Films, V10 Music Video Chart and 99FM Royal Hustlers.
“The Namibian creative industry is a very important stakeholder in our TribeFire Studios dream for positive change in Namibia. We are extremely thankful for these producers who took hands with us to broadcast their content.
“We are humbled and proud that we can support the local content industry through sharing their stories with our viewers,” Stefan Hugo, the CEO for One Africa TV and the TribeFire Studios group, said.
One Africa TV is available on over 300 000 GOtv (channel 90) and DStv (channel 284) decoders across Namibia.
