WINDHOEK

A robbery attempt ended in death after two men attempted to rob a taxi at 00h40 in Katutura last Saturday.

It is alleged that one of two suspects had stopped a taxi and grabbed the driver, who then accelerated at high speed and lost control of the vehicle when he approached the T-Junction of Sukkot and Clemence Kapuuo streets.

The driver hit the brick wall of the Dolam Cemetery, resulting in one of the robbers being thrown out of the vehicle. He died after his head hit the wall.

In other news, a case of culpable homicide was recorded involving a 59-year-old man who was reversing a Nissan Navara with a trailer attached while another man (aged 39) was on the back of the trailer.

It is alleged that the victim was on the trailer to offload three marble stones, but had slipped and, in the process, the material fell on the victim’s body. His co-workers assisted in removing the marble from the victim and rushed him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
