Gender-Based Violence (GBV) has been a pandemic in Namibia for years.
Taking the opportunity to address this social ill, Young T released an album that educates people about the dangers of GBV to society.
In an interview with tjil, the musician explained that all profits from the album will be donated to the Monica Gender Equality, Human Rights and Social Justice organisation that was founded by Iipinge Shaanika Nashilongo. The album, titled 'GBV Defeated', is his way of contributing to the fight against GBV, Young T said.
The musician collaborated with Nashilongo on the concept of the album. He said the response to the album so far has been positive, and his fans are excited. “I love how people are promoting the album on my behalf."
He said the goal of the songs are to instil a sense of humanity, tranquillity and peace in the hearts of his listeners. “I want them to get practical about exposing the evilness of GBV. I want them to help shape the future for a GBV free generation.”
Young T wrote and recorded the vocals alone, but credits his in-house producer Chaki for contributing on some of the songs.
The album is available at local music outlets countrywide and can also be ordered on his official social media platforms. “We plan to release GBV Defeated vol.2 next year by the way. It will be bigger and better,” Young T announced.
