WINDHOEK
December saw a decline in drug arrests and seizures in comparison to past months.
Forty-three suspects were arrested in connection with drug-related crimes last month, with drugs valued over N$448 000 confiscated.
Of the suspects arrested, 40 are Namibian, two Congolese and one Nigerian.
According to a report provided by the police, a total of 37.933kg of cannabis was seized during December, valued at N$379 330.
A total of 565 mandrax tablets was also confiscated to the value of N$67 800, as well as 11 units of crack cocaine valued at N$1 100.

In November, 85 suspects were arrested in connection for drug-related crimes and more than N$3.44 million in drugs were seized.
The police urged the public to refrain from dealing in drugs.
Meanwhile, drugs to the value of more than N$1.28 million were seized during August and September, and 222 suspects were arrested.
According to statistics provided by the police for the months of August and September, the majority of the suspects arrested were Namibians.
Cannabis still remains the top consumed drug by Namibians, with more than N$1.125 million in value being confiscated during those months.
