OTJIWARONGO
Two men accused of the murder of a Zimbabwean national at Otjiwarongo in June this year were granted bail of N$5 000 each on Friday.
The bail hearing of Jandre Jansen van Vuuren (23) and Jonathan Myburgh (22) started on Thursday in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate's Court before Magistrate Karel Muyeghu.
Van Vuuren was represented by lawyer Johan van Vuuren, and Myburgh by Windhoek - lawyer Jan Hendrik Wessels.
The two were among five suspects arrested on 6 June at different towns in the Otjozondjupa Region in connection with the murder of Hlaisanani Zhou (43).
Van Vuuren, Myburgh, Roberto Katjinamunene (29), Kefas Kuutondokwa (26), and Hendrik Simupureni (20) allegedly attacked and severely injured Zhou at Etemba Plaza on 3 June after he reportedly stole wood glue valued at N$29.
Zhou allegedly walked a few minutes from where he was attacked, collapsed and died in a street.
The five worked as supervisors and security guards at the shopping mall, while Zhou was a street vendor at the time of the incident.
Katjinamunene, Kuutondokwa and Simupureni were released on bail of N$3 000 each by the same Otjiwarongo court on 17 August.
Prosecutor Joas Neemwatja represented the State in the matter.
The five accused are expected to return to court on 10 November.
