WINDHOEK
Namibian rapper J.Lucid released his second album, Sagittarius, towards the end of last year.
The project features an exciting selection of both established and upcoming artists like Lioness, Chana, Ruffy, Xavier Knight and Direfox.
Having complemented the nine-track body of work with two music videos, SIN and Aesthetic, tjil chats to the rapper on what the response to the album has been.
tjil (t): You recently released your second album, what has the response from your fans been like?
J.Lucid (JL): The response has been great. I've had a lot of fans asking for more videos and when the next project will be out, and my iTunes and Spotify streaming numbers went up dramatically as well.
t: What is Sagittarius about? What kind of stories are you telling?
JL: Sagittarius is my star sign and the album is a timeline of events that have built my character, things like love, pain, anger and joy.
Every song is a moment. The album starts out with an introduction by the queen of the Namibian music industry, Lioness, basically sharing a few words on love, life and strength and her mission in the game.
I chose to make that the introduction because we have the same mission.
t: What do you want to achieve before you drop your third offering?
JL: I would love to have more people listen to the album, get a bigger reach to all kinds of people and build an even bigger fan base.
t: Can we expect more visuals from the album?
JL: Yes, I'll drop one more video for Sagittarius. My plan is to shoot for my favourite song on the album, Parthenos.
