Miss Mavis Windhoek is the beauty pageant with a purpose of creating life after all has seemed to fail. The beauty pageant has the charitable purpose of changing lives of many with a night of entertainment glitz and glamour.
The Miss Mavis event of the year is due to take place at the Khomas Grove Mall next weekend. Miss Mavis is a beauty contest for transgender people. The competition was very popular back in the 80s and the organisers decided to revamp it and bring it back. Back in the day it was done in night clubs but now the event is hosted to raise money for a beauty and hospitality school under the We Care Trust. The Miss Mavis beauty pageant will be an annual event due to the many sponsors that have stepped up to help take the youth off the streets and help them become career men and woman. The contestants are all from different regions and they will be selling tickets at the mall until the day of the event. “The event is to sensitise people regarding homosexuality in our community and this is why the public must come out in numbers. People think being gay is a taboo but we want to show that is not the case. They are involved in creatively in the country,” said Vincent the organiser. The Miss Mavis will be held on 8 October from 20:00. Tickets are N$100 and N$250 if you want to join the after-party too. For super fun and enjoyment make sure you buy your tickets today.
