Wanderers to take on Rustenburg Impala
Wanderers to take on Rustenburg Impala 0 Namibia’s Wanderers rugby club will be playing their second away match in the Gold Cup when they travel to South Africa to take on Rustenburg Impala tomorrow.

The Namibians are fresh from a home victory – even though it had a sting in the tail – over the Northam Rhinos last weekend.

Wanderers had beaten their visitors 60-29 but the victory has subsequently been marred with reports of an alleged racially charged incident taking centre stage throughout the week.

As a short-term remedy to the situation, the Namibian team has opted to leave Theo Coetzee, the player alleged to have been at the forefront of the fracas, out of their traveling party.

“We have suspended him [Coetzee] for one match as a message for him to improve his overall discipline,” Wanderers chairman Flip Louw told Republikein on Wednesday.

The team will now have to focus on the task ahead as they play an Impala team that has won both of its matches in the Gold Cup so far.

Impala, who lead the group standings, beat Rhinos 46-19 before recording a 29-10 win over Evergreens.

Wanderers are currently in third position and will have to finish among the top two teams to qualify for the quarterfinal playoffs of the competition.

After this weekend’s match, they will have only one game left, hosting Evergreens at their field on 8 October.

The playoffs are scheduled for 15 October.
