Unam victorious against RehobothUnam victorious against RehobothUniversity comes from behind Unam trailed the home team 7-0 after the hosts took the lead 10 minutes into the first half through Xavier van Wyk for their first and only try of the match, with Howard Titus converting the kick to stretch the lead. The University of Namibia (Unam) Rugby Club continued their dominance in the Premier Rugby League after overcoming Rehoboth Rugby Club 31-7 in a hard-fought victory at Rehoboth on Saturday.

It looked like Rehoboth were out to halt the log leaders' winning streak until Simon Haitembu burst through the hosts' defence for a try. Denver Murorua made no mistake and converted his kick to level the scores 7-all.

Soon after the restart, Unam capitalised after poor handling from the Rehoboth players and JC Olivier showed heels to the backline of the home team to cross the line for their second try.

Murorua stepped up again to convert his second kick to stretch the lead to 14-7. The half ended with the same scoreline in favour of the visitors. After the restart, Rehoboth had pushed and camped mostly in the Unam half, but the visitors' defence was on hand to thwart the threat from Rehoboth.

Against the run of play, Titus was sin-binned after he received a yellow card for a high tackle on a Unam player and Unam quickly capitalised from the resulting foul and got their third try through Camlo Martin.

Again, Murorua showed composure and converted his kick to make it 21-7.

Rehoboth stepped up a gear and pressed for a try but Unam sustained the pressure and got a penalty try converted by Bradley Klazen, before Murorua converted another penalty goal to take the final score to 31-7.

Despite the win, Unam coach Johan Diergaardt said after the match the players failed to implement the game plan as discussed.

“It was a stop-start affair where we lacked quality in our game. We failed to implement the tactics to kill off the game as early as possible,” said Diergaardt.
