Ongandjera King Johannes Mupongolitha Mupiya is under fire from farmers, who have expressed their frustration and resentment over 13 well-connected individuals fencing off grazing areas that include government boreholes, which provide water to livestock.
These illegal fences have not yet been removed by the Omusati Communal Land Board and the Ongandjera Traditional Authority.
This past Friday, the king met with the disgruntled farmers, who told him that the peace in the area is under threat, and that he needs to do something urgently to restore it.
