NamWater has reduced Okahandja’s water supply by 20% because of the town’s failure to comply with a demand to cut back its consumption by that percentage.
For the foreseeable future Okahandja residents will be restricted to 185 cubic metres of water per hour since their supply was “throttled” at the beginning of March.
This week some Okahandja residents reported water issues and said availability was scarce, but by yesterday no official notice to inform residents of the situation had gone out.
