JESSE JACKSON KAURAISAOne of Namibia’s golden boxers, Jeremiah ‘Low Key’ Nakathila, has improved his World Boxing Organisation rankings.
Nakathila, who was previously ranked ninth in the junior lightweight division, has now moved to sixth in the ratings.
The MTC Nestor Sunshine Academy announced yesterday that the improvement was because of his last fight. The boxer defeated a highly rated South African Sibusiso Zingange at the end of last year.
The boxer told the Sunshine communication department that he was happy with the way he was improving.
Nakathila, who has big dreams of fighting for the world title one da,y felt that he was on the right track.
“I am excited about my improved word rating. Joining the MTC Sunshine team has been the best decision of my boxing career and I know that 2018 will hold great things for me.
“The junior lightweight division is very competitive with Lomanchenko being the current world champion, but I am not intimidated and will do my best to continue winning and winning till I get to the number one spot” Nakathila said.
Nakathila, who was training with the Soweto boxing gym, joined Nestor Tobias last year.
He said he joined the Sunshine Academy because he wanted to gain more exposure internationally.
Tobias also spoke highly of the boxer, stating that he has a great future ahead of him.
“This boy is the future of boxing. We are excited to have so much talent in our gym, we have the depth in so many weight classes and this talent is testimony that our future is bright.
“We will continue to make a positive mark on the international boxing scene,” Tobias said.
He added that Nakathila is a focused and hardworking boxer who is also disciplined.
“The fact that he continues to fight tough opponents can only do his world ratings good.”
