Back to school live, with NMHBack to school live, with NMH The publications of Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) - Namibian Sun, Allgemeine Zeitung and Republikein - will be hosting their very first back-to-school live media interactions with different primary schools around Windhoek starting today.

The aim of this initiative is to involve both our online and print audience in the first week of school for first-time primary school children entering grade 1. The media interaction sessions will involve live Facebook videos, the handing out of our annual school calendar and speaking to some of the grade 1 learners.

This year, the enrolment numbers for grades 1 to 7 for this academic year stood at 483 685, representing a 3% increment when compared to 2016. Looking at figures for the 2017 pre-primary enrolment rate, it is fair to assume the total number of grade 1s will be roughly 37 000 this year.

The sessions will broadcast the importance of involving both of the two vital parties that contribute to a child's success - parents and teachers. As for most parents, the first day of school is a milestone and NMH wishes to capture this moment. The first day of school marks a huge step in the child's education as the academic begins with grade 1. The involvement of the school, and the teachers too, is critical and they are also involved.

Catch all of the back-to-school sessions on our Facebook page and contact us if you want to share a story.
