Namibia’s ambassador to Germany, Andreas Guibeb, has come under fire for reportedly trying to influence the German Bundestag not to debate the genocide committed a century ago against Namibian communities by the erstwhile Imperial Germany.
The German parliament is scheduled to debate a motion, tabled by that country’s leftists, which seeks to force the German authorities to formally apologise to the Namibian people for the 1904 genocide, and to allow its members to start a dialogue with Namibians.
