The founding president of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP), Hidipo Hamutenya, yesterday congratulated his successor, Jeremiah Nambinga.
Hamutenya who founded the RDP with Nambinga and others, retired from the top post in February amidst allegations of pressure from the party.
Nambinga was up against Peter Naholo, Libolly Haufiku, Heiko Lucks, Kandy Nehova and Christiaan Nguherimo for the leadership.
In the second round of voting Nambinga emerged victorious by winning by 201 votes to Nehova’s 198.
