Oh how the art of writing has changed. Gone are the days when people used to write love letters to each other to express their emotions for each other. Ja, a man would pen the most amazing words to declare his true feelings to his significant other.

This true act of chivalry has since died and replaced with a lame method referred to as texting. The problem with texting does not lie in the method itself, but rather in what has now become a new version of English. Read more about The might of the pen

Following a violent stand-off between Brakwater residents and jobless people born in exile, known as ‘struggle kids’, Swapo appears to have distanced itself from its problem children, saying: “The issue of the struggle kids is being dealt with at government level.”
Although the details of Thursday’s drama at Brakwater remain sketchy, it is believed that the violence was triggered when a resident bumped one of the ‘kids’ with his car. Three ‘struggle kids’ had apparently trespassed on his smallholding in order to get firewood.

Namibia is a country where we celebrate our heroes, honour their memories in our national anthem, celebrate them every opportunity we get and remind the world that their blood waters our freedom. Yet their offspring, we banish to the outskirts of our cosmopolitan, modern capital city where they wouldn’t be an eyesore. But the truth is, no matter how hard the powers that be attempt to ignore it, the children of the liberation struggle are here, and cannot be wished away. The children of the liberation struggle and the Brakwater incident dominated conversations over the weekend. Read more about 'Kids' can't be wished away

After a wait of six years, Namibians will finally know what their lawmakers own when the assets register for parliamentarians will be made public
Slated for May/June, the register will indicate what assets members of parliament own and what businesses they are involved in. The move has been hailed as excellent for transparency which of late has been seen as lacking. It is the National Assembly that did not produce an assets register during the previous parliament while the National Council is said to have produced an annual register.

Dundee Precious Metals (DPM) says the international environment watchdog CEE Bankwatch is making false and misleading claims about exposure to arsenic as alleged by the town’s people.
DPM argues that Bankwatch’s claims are not supported by the regular health surveys conducted in Tsumeb under the supervision of the Namibian government and independent medical specialists.
Bankwatch said in a statement issued on December 22, 2015 that information available to it “shows that arsenic levels have been way above safe limits defined by health institutions.”
